Democides in Communist and Democratic Regimes
I received the following e-mail. After researching some statistical
information, I was astonished by the shocking numbers which compared
actual murders committed by the State against their own people. Figures
were available to statistically compare these murders in Communist regimes and
Democratic regimes. I thought I would share this information and
statistics with you. The numbers reflect the median number between the
low and highs. The statistical information came from research by Rudolph J.
Rummel PH.D., who was a finalist for the 1996 Nobel Peace Prize.

Dear John,
Every time GW Bush makes an total ass of himself in a new way or makes
another international diplomatic blunder, I ask myself how on earth enough
Americans made the mistake of voting him in all at once? Then I stumble
across websites like yours and I am sadly reminded of the mentally
deficient state of humanity in your part of the world.
Yes, Fonda is a socialist. What a terribly dirty word! It's a good job it
didn't get out very overtly at the time or dimwits like you who
couldn't pick up this glaringly obvious fact already would have
a good label to tar her with just like McArthy did.
I wonder, John, whether you have the foggiest idea about what beliefs are
encompassed by the term socialism that you use as such a terrible insult.
How about caring for those less fortunate than yourself, trying to give
everyone in society equal opportunities to achieve in life, making
health and education available to all and giving all members of
society equal rights. That is what socialism is.
I wonder whether you'll be able to understand all the words in this email
and, furthermore, construct a coherent response...
I'll wait and see
Aarash
My Response:
Dear Aarash,
I will attempt to answer your questions in
my poor uneducated mentally deficient manner. Most of the
Socialists and Communists that I have met in my past 50 some years seem to portray
a superior attitude that they have a higher intellect than most people
around them. With their superior attitudes, I suspect that this
could be one possible reason why mass murder of the civilian
populations occurred in Countries that were taken over by Communist regimes.
They eliminated those who could possibly oppose them or burden their
society.
Here are some examples of domestic democide
by Communist regimes. (Democide: The murder of
any person or people by a government, including genocide, politicide, and
mass murder.)
U.S.S.R (Russia's Soviet Block) -
from 1917 to 1987 -
54,769,000
P.R.C. (China) -
from 1949 to 1987 -
35,236,000
Khmer Rouge (Cambodia) -
from 1975 to 1979
2,000,000
North Korea -
from 1948 to 1987
1,293,000
Vietnam (Communist) -
from 1945 to 1987
944,000
Under Communist Governments' (from
1956 to 1986), domestic democide totaled to 101,897,000.
Compare that total to Democratic Governments' domestic democide (from
1941 to 1980) which totaled 149,000.
To me it is quite apparent that it is much
safer to live in a Democratic Society such as the United States where one
has the right of freedom of speech and a tolerance to others' political
beliefs than it is to live under a Socialist Society such as Communism.
This tolerance may be our downfall by allowing the A.C.L.U. to slowly and
systematically pick away at our democratic society. The
ACLU's founder Roger Baldwin stated "I am for socialism,
disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the State itself as an instrument
of violence and compulsion. I seek the social ownership of property, the
abolition of the propertied class, and sole control of those who produce
wealth. Communism is the goal."
I put people who call themselves Socialists into two categories:
1. There are some Communists who
refer to themselves as Socialists, so as not to bear the stigma of being
called a Communist in a Democratic Society. I suspect Jane Fonda
falls into this category.
2. I look at other people who
call themselves Socialists, as being nothing more than dreamers
of utopia who are being used as puppets by the Communists.
In your statement "How about
caring for those less fortunate than yourself, trying to give everyone in
society equal opportunities to achieve in life, making health and
education available to all and giving all members of society equal
rights." The following is my response:
Aarash, I do not know where you live
but the United States is one of the most caring nations in the world.
We attempt to help others who are less fortunate than ourselves. Our
social programs are constantly striving to do the best job possible. Equal
opportunities in achieving and bettering our life styles are available to
everyone, if you are willing to work for it. Our health care is one
of the best, if not the best in the world. We have Medicare for the
elderly and disabled. We also have Medicaid for the poor. It's
the working class who have to suffer extremely high medical insurance
premiums or pay their medical bills outright. It would be nice to
have free medical treatment, but at what price to the quality of service?
Education is free in the United States from Grade one to twelve with
mandatory attendance to the age of 16. College education is
available but is not free. Students can receive full or partial
scholarships if they work hard in high school and achieve good
grades. Other students have to pay for their education.
Student loans and some employers offer to pay full or partial tuitions.
If you are willing to work, one can easily achieve a higher education.
All citizens in the United States have equal rights. If your rights
have been violated by any government agency, you can contact the F.B.I.
for any civil rights violations. Citizens donate time, talent and
money at local levels to be part of the bigger picture of giving in this
country. On the whole, I feel the United States is the best country
in which to live. I am proud and fortunate to have been born in the
United States.
I understand all of the words in your
e-mail. I hope that you can comprehend the significance of the
statistics of Socialist Communist regimes.
As for George W. Bush, he was elected by
the people and he is doing the job we have asked him to do.
